John is a native of Glasgow, Scotland. He came to the Detroit 'burbs in 1970 on a Boeing 707 jetliner, talking with a funny accent (he still has it, just ask him to talk that way). He brought with him early musical influences (Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Slade, Sweet) after watching them on a black and white telly in the UK. Thanks to watching Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath and Steve Priest of Sweet with intent on becoming a musician, the bass guitar became his primary instrument of choice after playing French Horn in HS concert band, where he received formal music training and attended a week of music study at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. After a career in the Navy, John went back to playing bass, settled in Virginia with his wife Jen and their children and joined LoosEndz, his first "Virginia" cover band. John has a sense of humor that never seems to stop...he's thankful having Curtis as a drummer, citing him "the best drummer I've ever been in the pocket with."
